I feel like we're growing up every day. Rachel's internship is getting pretty intense. I can't believe she's been called into the hospital twice already to be an advocate to victims of sexual abuse. She's already spoken as a hotline representative on the phone to someone having suicidal thoughts. It just makes me feel like we're all getting closer to being in the real world.
Today, I had my first legitimate English teaching experience. With a group of six native Spanish speaking students, I taught them about the verb "to be," what you can use it for, we read passages, I had them do exercises out of a workbook, and I made them ask and answer questions. It felt amazingly rewarding. I can't wait to go back on Wednesday, and I wish that I would've made this commitment sooner in the semester. I am making it my personal goal to make it there once a week, every week, next semester. I think that that would be a great tutoring experience and really prepare me for possibly teaching English in France or with the Peace Corps one day.
